Mr. Surowski's Home Page 2007–2008

I hope that my students, colleagues, and the outside world find this web page a useful map of my activities. In addition to posting classroom resources, I shall try to continue to find links that lend to the education of my students. Check back often as this is a "dynamic" site; changes are made frequently.

If you need to contact me, please do not hesitate to do so; I'm at David.Surowski@saschina.org

I am as confused as I appear

While being relatively new to high-school teaching (this is my fifth year at SAS), I taught mathematics for roughly 30 years at the university level. If you're curious, here's Another View of Me. Consider this something of a compendium of my former professional life.

The Millennium Prize Problems

Want to win $1,000,000? No problem! All you have to do is to solve one of the Millennium Prize Problems. These form a list of seven classic mathematics problems and have resisted the efforts of the best mathematicians. Good luck!

Outside the Box

Although my career has mostly been dedicated to mathematical pursuits, I do sometimes like to step outside my little box to engage in other activities. In particular, I'm a self-acknowledged sinophile; pursuant to this is a web essay that I wrote some years back on the Education System of China. While it's a bit out of date, I continue to receive quite a bit of email correspondence about this essay. (There are occasional Chinese characters sprinkled into this essay—to read them, choose view/encoding/Chinese Simplified (GB2312).)
