Step 4: Reflections

Step 4
Reflections

Why is this important to you?
How does it fit your personality and strengths?
Go to Step 5
Reflect on the information you have examined. Rather than just presenting the data, we hope you will take time to examine how the data fits with your own values, dreams, beliefs and experiences.

Remember to email it to your counselor.

Now take the data and critically reflect on it answering the following questions:

  1. 1.Through this career process, what did you realize about yourself? By realize, I mean, learn, rediscover, or affirm.
  2. 2.Do you agree with the results of the Do What You Are survey? Support your statement with some sort of justification and examples from your life.
  3. 3.What surprised you about your chosen career?
  4. 4.How does this career play to your strengths? Be specific (ie. identify your strengths and give examples give examples how they would be used).
  5. 5.With this career, would you be following your bliss? How so, or why not?
  6. 6.What do you need to improve on to pursue that career?
  7. 7.What would stop you from pursuing or succeeding in this career?
  8. 8.Name two other career areas that intrigue you…
 Follow your bliss

“…if you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in your field of bliss, and they open doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.”—Joseph Cambell
