First you must answer a few very simple questions about the universities you are considering and you must know yourself and your wishes thoroughly! (make sure you have completed the “My Personality” section of TCCi). With over 3000 universities in the US – there are at least 5 to 7 that will be good matches for you…
- Geographically where do you want to go to school?
- How big of a school would you like to attend?
- City / urban / rural / suburban population?
- How much time do you want to spend studying and how much time do you want to spend socializing?
- Do you want to have a specialized school (art/music/business)?
- What is your grade point average
- What is your SAT score? (See how high it is for the really selective universities. )
- After answering the questions, you have a number of places to go to start your search. See below:
- Make a list of at least 15 – 20 schools that fit your criteria
- Check out these schools on TCCi
- Browse these school’s websites (www.braintrack.com)
- Write a letter of inquiry to each school
Diploma: US universities will accepts either the US and IP Diploma. You may earn credit for your efforts:
AP students should check out the college board website and the individual university
IB students should check out the IB website and the individual university
Note: Credit varies tremendously for both programs.
Testing: Many will want either the ACT or SAT. More Selective colleges will also require SAT Subject tests. We Recommend taking the SAT in May or June. Register with Ida. Info: www.collegeboard.com
