What is counseling in an American School?
You will first meet us when you join the school: We help you build your schedule and get aquatinted with SAS. But we offer more: From planning your future to sorting out your feelings, your counselors are here to help. We give workshops covering a variety of topics, plus organized grade level events, but when our doors are open, we are there for you. We know moving from one country to another is tough; we understand that high school can be challenging and sometimes you just need a place to go.
A Word on Confidentiality
As counselors we take your trust seriously and although we can hold most things you tell us in Confidence, there are couple of things we have to pass on:
- If you are in danger of hurting yourself
- If someone else is in danger of hurting themselves
- and certain matters that are against the law...
But we will work with you on how best to share this information and aim to help you to our fullest ability.
